To enroll in the Wisconsin Conservation Corps NOLS Wilderness First Aid course, please complete the online form. To secure your spot in the course, you must make an online payment of $315 a few days later. An online payment form will be sent to the email address we have on file for you.

WisCorps - Wilderness First Aid Registration

If you plan to spend time in remote locations, you need to prepare to care for yourself and others.

This fast-paced and hands-on two-day course covers a wide range of wilderness medicine topics for people who travel and work outdoors and meets the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts, and individuals working in remote locations. This course is through Wisconsin Conservation Corps, The Nature Place and the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Please know that that half of the course participants will be Wisconsin Conservation Corps Crew Leaders. Open to partners and community members!

Course Location
Primary classroom will be held at The Nature Place in La Crosse - 789 Myrick Park Drive.
We are not able to offer housing or camping for this course. There are hotels available nearby. Given the pace of the course, we recommend that all participants pack a lunch and snacks. Food is not provided but there is a refrigerator and microwave to chill and warm food.

Course Details
Taught by seasoned instructors in a two-day format. Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, or cold environments.

This course is pre-approved by such organizations as the American Camping Association, the United States Forest Service, and other governmental agencies. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you'll have the knowledge, skills, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Equipment & Gear Requirements
+ Notebook and pencil/pen +Watch with second hand or digital second + Sunglasses and hat + Water bottle + Light day pack + Waterproof outerwear top and bottom + Clothing layers that allow you to be comfortable in a variety of weather conditions + Light hiking boots or sturdy shoes + Slippers or comfortable shoes for classroom time (optional) + Frequently used outdoor gear/clothing that you can use for splinting/bracing practice (optional)

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation must be made 45 days prior to the start of the class in order to receive a full refund on the tuition. Within 45-14 days a cancellation fee of $50 will be charged. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than two weeks prior to the course.

Required Forms?
Each person attending Wisconsin Conservation Corps classes must read and sign the Waiver of Liability form and the Student Health Information form. These forms will be emailed to you directly.. Please download each form (one for each participant) and bring the signed documents with you when you come to class. Thanks!
