Directions and Parking
The Upper Hixon Forest trails are located on County Highway FA just east of La Crosse. From downtown La Crosse, take Main Street east until it becomes Bliss Road. Follow Bliss Road up the bluff past the Alpine Inn and turn left on County Highway FA (just under 1/2 mile past the Alpine Inn). Continue on Highway FA until you come to the event signs (at the National Weather Service office). Parking is available in the grassy field west of the race start. Do not Park at the National Weather Service office lot.
The event starts and ends at the Upper Hixon Forest parking lot on County Highway FA. Convenient parking is available in the grass lot directly west of the race start.
About the Course
The race starts on the nice wide Prairie Loop trail with a gentle spacing climb for approximately 0.5 miles before turning onto BOB – a slightly descending single track with ample twists, turns, and limited passing space before dropping into Aby’s and a challenging climb back to Prairie Loop via Moonshine. Once back on Prairie Loop, ample passing room is again available before hitting the water station and dropping in on OB1 with a sharp descent before cutting over to Buckthorn and winding to Mile #2 before entering the woods and making the short, but steep climb up to La Crosse Ridge Loop. Once on La Crosse Ridge Loop, there’s less than 1 mile remaining on a wide grass trail with a gradual (and deceiving) climb to the finish line.
Dogs are not allowed on the race course, thanks for your understanding!
